Braves at Winter Meetings
The first “normal” Winter Meetings since 2019 started this Sunday in San Diego, California. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Winter Meetings, it’s a kind of baseball convention comprised of MLB team executives, agents, & national corporate baseball media members.
The convention has many purposes that affect Major League Baseball. But the flashy happenings are all personnel transactions via trade & free agent signings.
The Braves are showing up with holes to plug. Most notably at shortstop, almost as pressing: left field.
The most notable Winter Meetings deal for the Braves came in 2015 when Atlanta acquired Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte, & Aaron Blair in exchange for Shelby Miller (now a Dodger) & Gabe Speier. Now seven years later, Atlanta looks to acquire another shortstop at the Winter Meetings.
