Braves Pace NL East All-MLB
Last night, MLB Network announced the All-MLB selections.
The All-MLB Team is broken up into a First Team & a Second Team. First Team All-MLB selections are dubbed the best player in all of Major League Baseball at the position they were selected for. Second Team selections are their runner-ups.
In total, the Atlanta Braves had four All-MLB selections; one First Team selection & three Second Team selections.
Austin Riley was named to the All-MLB First Team at 3rd Base. The other nominees were: Rafael Devers (Red Sox), Yoán Moncada (White Sox), Justin Turner (Dodgers), José Ramirez (Guardians), Manny Machado (Padres), & Nolan Arenado (Cardinals).
The remaining three All-MLB selections were Second Teamer’s.
Freddie Freeman was voted to the Second Team behind Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The other finalists were: Paul Goldschmidt (Cardinals), José Abreu (White Sox), Pete Alonso (Mets), Yuli Gurriel (Astros), Ryan Mountcastle (Orioles), Matt Olson (Athletics), Max Muncy (Dodgers), & Joey Votto (Reds).
Ozzie Albies was selected to the Second Team at 2nd Base behind Toronto’s Marcus Semien.
The other finalists were: Jose Altuve (Astros), Jake Cronenworth (Padres), Adam Frazier (Padres), Jonathan India (Reds), Brandon Lowe (Rays), Whit Merrifield (Royals), & Jorge Polanco (Twins).
Max Fried was selected to the Second Team as a Starting Pitcher alongside: Shohei Ohtani (Angels), Julio Urías (Dodgers), Kevin Gausman (Giants), & Zack Wheeler (Phillies).
The First Team Starting Pitchers were: Corbin Burnes (Brewers), Max Scherzer (Dodgers), Gerrit Cole (Yankees), Robbie Ray (Blue Jays), & Walker Buehler (Dodgers).
Other NL East Teams
Philadelphia Phillies: Bryce Harper (1st) & Zack Wheeler (2nd).
New York Mets: Pete Alonso (Finalist).
Nationals: Juan Soto (1st), kind of Scherzer (1st).
Marlins: None.
