Braves Remove All Doubt
In the final series of the first half of baseball, the Braves traveled to Tampa Bay, Florida to face off against the Rays. The series was a meeting of the two best records in baseball; beyond records, these two teams are clearly the World Series frontrunners at this point in the season.
Even with Tampa Bay on a skid as of late, they’re capable of hanging double digit runs on anyone, Braves included. Luckily for us, Atlanta held them to one run per game in the series’ first two games.
Charlie Morton & Spencer Strider set the tone for the series while simultaneously securing the series. The two opposite ends of a professional baseball career. Charlie, who will retire sooner rather than later; I actually thought he’d already be retired if you asked me 3 years ago. Then you have Strider, who has taken baseball by storm as he strikes out everybody & their mother. Debuted in 2021, and didn’t even start an MLB game until last season after he began the year in the bullpen.
Also in those first two games, Sean Murphy hit a homerun in each. Sean Murphy was voted as the National League’s starting catcher for this week’s Midsummer Classic, making him the third Braves catcher in the past two seasons to be selected to the National League All-Star Team.
