Braves Sign Veteran Outfielder
The Braves signed veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar to a minor league contract on Wednesday afternoon.
The Atlanta Braves have once again signed an outfielder. Kevin Pillar is now the fourth new Braves outfielder since the offseason began.
Sam Hilliard was the first outfielder from outside the organization to be acquired by the Braves (November); traded to Atlanta from Colorado in exchange for MiLB pitcher Dylan Spain.
In December, the Braves signed free agent outfielder Jordan Luplow.
At the beginning of January, the Braves acquired outfielder Eli White from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash.
I will say, even though it seems like Anthopoulos is throwing as many players at left field as possible just hoping one pays off while the rest of the bunch won’t live in the state of Georgia by the end of May; Pillar is my favorite of the entire group.
If you think back to the 2021 season during one of the series’ against the New York Mets, you may remember Braves pitcher Jacob Webb hitting a Mets hitter in the face during an at-bat. That batter fell to the ground, only to emerge in a later press conference looking like he was hit by an 18-wheeler. You may also remember him returning to the lineup soon after & even using the same bat he was holding when he was plunked (pictured below). The blood from that earlier incident still staining the wood grain.
