Contreras Keeps Hitting
Had it not been for Vaughn Grissom & Michael Harris II BURSTING onto the scene, William Contreras would’ve been one hell of a story for 2022.
The catcher that was labeled as a defensive liability & streaky hitter has not only shed that label, but lit it on fire.
William’s three RBI last night on a bases loaded double brought his total up to 37 on the year on top of 17 homeruns. His homerun total is 4th-best on the Braves despite being 9th in at-bats (five ahead of Ozzie).
In his last three games, he’s hitting .500 (7-for-14) with five runs scored, one homerun, & five RBI.
If d’Arnaud wasn’t signed through next season, I’d feel über-confident in saying William would be the starting catcher for the Braves in 2023. He still may be, if you remember my piece on proactive prolongation, found here:
Jackson Stephens
Braves reliever Jackson Stephens took a 90ish mph line drive off the forehead on a comebacker from the bat of Brendan Donovan. As you can see in the video below, he managed to stay on his feet throughout the entire ordeal:
It was reported that Jackson passed all the preliminary tests while at the stadium, but was taken to the local hospital for further testing.
No updates have been released at this time.
