The Braves go for the series win later today on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. I for one, am ecstatic. This is the most excited I’ve been in awhile about a single regular season Braves game.
Bryce Elder takes the mound fresh off a masterful showing against Washington. César & Soto worked him for a run in his first inning of MLB baseball, but it was all Bryce Elder from there until he was obviously gassed & gave up back-to-back home runs to Soto & Josh Bell.
The young Texan is matching up against Padres ace Yu Darvish. Darvish needs to introduction, he’s well-versed in dominance at the MLB level.
He only lasted 1.2 innings in his last outing in San Francisco when he gave up nine earned runs. He was DREADFUL.
But struggling on the road has been the trend of his career, where he’s 34-33 in his career. Opposed to 45-35 in home starts. He also has a complete game shutout at home, a feat he’s yet to notch on the road. He also has more strikeouts at home, less walks at home, & less hit-by-pitches at home.
Yu is in his element at home.
Elder is in his element on the mound.
