It was no secret Max Fried is starting on the mound. Even though he’s one of, if not the best hitting pitchers in baseball, a Designated Hitter is obviously an upgrade. Fried can focus on pitching. After his last two outings, this would be the perfect time for a redemption game.
Former Braves player Matt Diaz told MLB Radio on Sirius XM that Fried was tipping his pitches against Los Angeles in the NLCS. Maybe he was doing the same to start this World Series Game 2, and then changed it up and held them scoreless for three innings.
“If we had him in central Florida, they had him in Los Angeles”-Matt Diaz
Diaz would go on to explain that the pace of his glove flair was the young pitcher’s “tell”. The flair he’s referring to is the movement of the glove pitchers intentionally pace as they come set, so batters can’t tell if he’s searching for a grip on the ball or not.
