The five-game series against the New York Mets was four days of everything that could go wrong for a single baseball team. The Mets have voodoo in their bats, I’m convinced. I’ve never seen a team benefit from such an extraordinarily unlikely series of events so many times.
The bottom half of seemingly every inning featured Atlanta’s pitcher hanging on for dear life against some combination of hit batsman/walk, defensive error, infield single, double in the gap with an exit velocity of less than 80 mph, a missed call, & Buck Showalter on the field arguing something or another.
