Zack Greinke.
Fresh off a World Series appearance in the last year of his 6-year/$206,500,000 contract, the future Hall of Famer is now a free agent.
Over the course of his seventeen-year career, he’s accrued: a Cy Young, six All-Star selections, six Gold Gloves, two Silver Sluggers, & two ERA Titles.
He’s also played for six different organizations. He’s won double-digit games twelve times, including last year.
He’s not the 2009 Cy Young Greinke, but he knows his way around a big league lineup.
Selfishly, I want him in Atlanta just for pure entertainment purposes. On multiple occasions he’s told the batter what pitch he was throwing, and still thrown it for a strike. On multiple occasions, he’s thrown a baseball as slow as humanly possible while also getting it over the plate. He’s been know to tell teammates the velocity he’ll throw his eephus the next half inning, and hit the mph exactly. He takes pride in hitting (logging a hit in the World Series against the Braves), even though that’s probably going away for him.
